What: Dynasty Handbag will mentally barf out various works, some of which are plucked from longer pieces to create a sampler platter of performance explosion cooked up just for you!  Come see Dynasty Handbag as a defective drone, a neglected child who tries to move into with the neighbor, a pledge to a knife wielding girl gang, just to name a few.
::: About Dynasty Handbag :::
Jibz Cameron is a performance and video artist who lives and works in New York.  In 2002 she began to develop Dynasty Handbag, a one-woman show combining music, audio, video and live performance.  She has been heralded a “crackpot genius” by The Village Voice, and the NY Times has said of her, “The funniest and most pitch perfect performance seen in years.” She has toured extensively in the US and Europe as Dynasty Handbag. In 2006 she released her first Dynasty Handbag record entitled “Foo Foo Yik Yik”.  Her performance and video work has been seen at such institutions as Dance Theater Workshop, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY,  The Kitchen, OUTFest Los Angeles, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.  She is the recipient of the 2007 Fresh Tracks Artist in Residency Award at Dance Theater Workshop and the 2008 recipient of the Franklin Furnace Fund grant for the performing arts.  She is currently an adjunct professor of Performance Composition at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Performance Studies Graduate Program.  Her second Dynasty Handbag record is due out in spring 2010 on Lovepump United Records. She will be presenting “Remote Penetration” at Dixon Place, in 2010 as part of the Mondo Cane! Commissioning Program.

BENEFIT for Local families of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Crouse Hospital- There are many families every year who’s children are at the NICU anywhere from a few hours to a few months. We are trying to raise money at this event for gift certificates to restaurants in the Crouse Hospital area and for parking passes at the hospital. Having been a NICU for 3 months while Etienne was there in 2006 I’ve experience the difficulties of trying to figure out how to juggle a life with a baby that was in the NICU for a significant amount of time. Parking and eating were big costs. It would be great if we could all get together and alleviate some of those costs for local families that are experiencing those hardships now!!

ABOUT The Bears of Blue River:
The Bears of Blue River are friends with day jobs who began gathering in the evenings to make silly noises in a dilapidated old apartment with wooden floors. Soon they found themselves playing folk diddies dressed up with some Bop about them. Their roots define them as Hoosiers but currently they are split between Chicago, Indianapolis, and Muncie.
